Everyone wants to make their car unique and stand out. So in order to achieve this, we add various car modifications to the vehicle to get it up to our desired standard.

It starts with the seat covers we add to cars, the car stickers, and the car wiper designs, and gradually it moves to the features we add to other areas of the vehicle.

But, once done in the wrong areas in the car, these things could lead to serious car damage. Here are the worst car modifications you should avoid in your vehicle.

  1. Using Wheel Spacers

Car owners use wheel spacers to fit with the fenders of their vehicles. It’s a cheap car modification but comes with some problems. One of the major challenges your vehicle will face is car handling issues.

Wheel spacers alter the steering wheel, suspension, and tire connection. It can make steering the car too heavy or too light. Wheel spacers will also put more leverage on the wheel hub and struts, causing premature wear and tear in the vehicle.

Instead of wheel spacers, the best to do is to find the right wheel and tire size to get your ideal fit.

  1. Installing Race Brakes

Race brakes come with aggressive pad compounds and rotors that better dissipate heat. However, race brakes have an optimum temperature window, and oftentimes, regular driving isn’t enough to generate the required heat.

The basic function of race brakes is for performance purposes, so it doesn’t factor in issues like squeaky brakes and ruined wheels. Instead of race brakes, it’s better to purchase street-rated sports brakes. They are cheaper than race brakes and have a wider operating window for optimum performance.

  1. Using Cheap Car Wheels

Using cheap wheels in your car might look cool, but gradually it ruins the car. Cheap wheels are made with care, which makes them heavier and weaker than flow-formed rollers.

While flow-formed wheels are more expensive, the process allows for a stronger, more consistent metal grain throughout the entire wheel.

Avoid cheap car wheels; in most cases, entering a pothole could expose the weakness level of those cheap car wheels.

  1. Using Cut Springs

Cut springs will ruin your car. But many car enthusiasts who want to lower their cars to improve both handling and aesthetics don’t realize this. Lowering springs and coil overs can be expensive, so most car enthusiasts cut the stock springs to get the lowered look.

This particular car modification is the easiest way to ruin a car. Because cut springs don’t have higher spring rates to match the lowered height, a car with a cut spring will bottom out easily, and the underbody will get damaged easily.
