Starting Sunday, June 8, 2025<\/strong>, the cost of obtaining or renewing a driver\u2019s license<\/strong> and vehicle number plates<\/strong><\/a> in Nigeria will increase, following the approval of a revised price structure by the Joint Tax Board (JTB)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development, which applies nationwide, is part of a broader effort to integrate enhanced security features<\/strong> and to accommodate rising production costs<\/strong>, as stated in a public service announcement issued in May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Joint Tax Board (JTB) has approved a new price adjustment for motor vehicle and motorcycle number plates and driver\u2019s license. The price adjustment is due to the introduction of enhanced security features on the number plates and driver\u2019s license, and the incidental cost of production. The new price is effective Sunday, June 8, 2025,\u201d<\/em> the statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The JTB, Nigeria\u2019s top tax coordination authority, has directed all relevant agencies \u2014 including motor vehicle licensing authorities<\/a><\/strong> and FRSC offices<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 to implement the new pricing structure across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
