Nigeria's most underrated tokunbo sedan, with one real caveat
carlots.ng editorial · 23 Oct 2026
The Altima gets overlooked in a market that defaults to Camry and Accord conversations, which is a shame -- the cabin is quieter than either of them at speed, the electrical system shrugs off Nigeria's voltage spikes better than most, and because it is less common here, a well-kept one is genuinely good value against asking prices for the usual two.
The caveat that matters is the CVT transmission fitted to later Altima generations, which carries a documented reliability question across the whole industry, not just this car -- a pre-purchase check of transmission behaviour under load is not optional here the way it might be skipped on a Camry. Parts availability, while not Camry-level, is better than the car's relative rarity on the road would suggest, because the volume sold new elsewhere keeps the global supply healthy.
