The Honda answer for buyers who find the Highlander too plain
carlots.ng editorial · 23 Oct 2026
The Pilot does the same three-row family job as the Highlander with a sharper driving feel and a more genuinely usable third row -- the difference shows on a family trip when the back seat is not purely decorative. The V6 is strong rather than frugal, and buyers coming from a four-cylinder sedan should budget fuel accordingly rather than being surprised by it later.
The timing belt and water pump service at the manufacturer's recommended interval is not optional on this engine the way it might be treated elsewhere, and skipping it to save money upfront is the single most expensive mistake a Pilot buyer can make. Budget for that service the same way you would budget for fuel and insurance, and the rest of the ownership experience is as dependable as the Honda badge promises.
