The other default, and a genuinely different car to live with

The Accord is the Camry's constant rival in the same used-import bracket, and the comparison holds up: similar age range, similar price band, similar everyday brief. Where it tends to win is the driving experience -- tighter steering, a firmer ride that still copes with bad tarmac, and a cabin that feels a size roomier than the numbers suggest.
Where it asks for more care is generation-specific: some model years carry a well-documented automatic transmission weakness that a pre-purchase inspection exists specifically to catch, and skipping that check is the single most common regret among Accord buyers. Bought right -- checked by a mechanic who knows which years to be careful about -- it is as dependable a daily as anything else in this bracket, with the added benefit of a lower average asking price than an equivalent Camry because demand for it, while large, is a step behind.
