Sporty sedans like the Hyundai Elantra N and BMW M3 provide practical alternatives to often cramped two-door sports cars. For refinement, premium sedans like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class are unmatched.
Many economy cars used to offer this option, and the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry featured V6 engines until 2017 and 2024, respectively. Although there are no V6-powered sedans from mainstream manufacturers, we searched for the most affordable model currently available and the next cheapest option.

At the top of our list is the remarkably affordable 2024 Hyundai Elantra, which boasts a stylish appearance and several high-end features that enhance its allure, starting at ₦45,841,248.00. It offers three powertrains, beginning with a base four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower. Want more power? Consider the N Line trim, which features a turbocharged engine with 201 horses. If fuel efficiency is your priority, there’s also a hybrid variant, rated for up to 58 mpg on the motorway. All trims come equipped with decent features, but desirable optional upgrades include a dual-screen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, and faux-leather upholstery that convincingly mimics genuine leather.
Hyundai's compact car has received a facelift, showcasing a sharper front end, updated exterior lighting, and new alloy wheels. There are various new colour options available, including Exotic Green and Ultimate Red. Hyundai has also made rear side-impact airbags and a rear-seat seatbelt reminder standard across the Elantra range. The 2024 Lexus ES has luxury down to fine art, boasting a supremely quiet and comfortable interior, a compliant suspension, and an abundance of standard equipment. Honda has announced that the Civic hybrid will now debut as a 2025 model, available as both a sedan and a hatchback, powered by a variant of the hybrid powertrain found in the Accord hybrid. This would mean a four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, producing somewhere between 180 and 200 horsepower.
For luxury and comfort, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Long is the choice for buyers seeking solid, impressive deportment and a distinguished presence; the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has become synonymous with power and affluence. The latter includes either a 429-hp turbocharged straight-six, a 496-hp twin-turbo V-8, or a plug-in hybrid that pairs the turbo six with an electric motor.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class may receive a new update for the upcoming 2025 model, featuring a centre airbag and a standard digital key. New Verde Silver and Sonoran Brown exterior paint hues will replace the departing Mojave Silver and Onyx Black. The four-zone climate control, previously available only as part of a package, is now a standalone option; similarly, the AMG Line trim is now a standalone package that can be added to the Luxury and Executive trims. Although the TRD model is the sportiest Camry yet, none of the modifications made under the Toyota Racing Development banner have altered its fundamental character. In other words, it remains a Camry. The base trim level is named LE, but higher-end models such as the XLE and XSE offer additional features. We would select the XLE Hybrid because we believe it best represents what the Camry excels at: being an easy-driving, family-oriented sedan with a very tasteful cabin. The 208-hp four-cylinder hybrid may not excite, but the XLE Hybrid receives good marks for ride quality and fuel economy. The standard leather interior is elegant, spacious, and well-equipped.
